Senator Beatriz Ávila, of the Independencia bloc, confirmed that she will vote in favor of the 2026 budget proposal, stating that it "is not ideal, but it provides predictability." During a special Senate session in Buenos Aires, she emphasized that planning and transparency are more important than improvisation, and that fiscal balance should not become a dogma that stifles production.
"We need the budget. It is not a blank check; we have our oversight function," Ávila said, urging a sensible use of public resources.
According to her, "fiscal surplus is not an end in itself, but a means to achieve development." She argued that "an efficient state is not a state reduced to the minimum," and that the budget will help break the "vicious cycle" caused by economic uncertainty and crisis.
